WE ARE THE CENTER!

OUR DREAM OF A NEW BUILDING IS ON THE WAY

The Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center is a lifeline for working families.

Our little farmhouse, built in 1902, which was donated along with 6 acres to form the Center after a fire in a migrant camp in 1949 tragically killed two children, has long been outgrown.

The Center has broken ground on our desperately needed new building. We are creting more space to:

- be able to serve more children in our over-subscribed After-School programs

-provide permanent space for our teens to meet and participate in our college prep program and SAT classes- our teens need their own space.

-construct a computer lab to give our children tomorrow’s skills

-build new classrooms for: art classes, Chess and Scrabble clubs; one-on-one tutoring and homework help, to name just a few

-expand cramped office space and add more restrooms

-offer community education space for groups to hold lectures or seminars and to hold our own Thinking Forward Lecture Series for the community

-create indoor space for our low-cost summer camp during inclement weather

Born out of tragedy in 1949 after a migrant camp fire killed two children of seasonal workers, The Center continues to serve our community's children with educational and enrichment programs.  For many working parents, The Center is a lifeline.  Their children flourish in our many programs and play safely on the six acre farm and fields donated to create The Center in the 1950s.
